John Bolton: US should bomb Iranian camps
Telegraph.co.uk
May 07, 2008

John Bolton, America’s ex-ambassador to the United Nations, has called for US air strikes on Iranian camps where insurgents are trained for war in Iraq.

Editor's Note -- Losing Mr. Bolton as ambassador to the UN was one glaring disappointment of the Bush presidency. Let's hope that McCain will find a post for him in the next administration... maybe Secretary of Defense?

Al Gore Calls Myanmar Cyclone a 'Consequence' of Global Warming
Former vice president tells NPR's 'Fresh Air' cyclone is example of 'consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.'

Business & Media Institute
May 06, 2008

Using tragedy to advance an agenda has been a strategy for many global warming activists, and it was just a matter of time before someone found a way to tie the recent Myanmar cyclone to global warming.

Former Vice President Al Gore in an interview on NPR’s May 6 “Fresh Air” broadcast did just that. He was interviewed by “Fresh Air” host Terry Gross about the release of his book, “The Assault on Reason,” in paperback.

Editor's Note -- And this drivel is being presented on the HISTORY channel as though it is real

Property appraisals going up again

Job growth prompts rise; some notices will arrive next week
Austin Statesman
Apr 16, 2008

In a sign of the region's relative economic health, homeowners in Travis, Hays and Williamson counties can expect to see increases in their 2008 property appraisals when they begin receiving notices in the mail soon, appraisers say.

The Travis Central Appraisal District is finalizing its proposed values for all real property in the county, including residential, office and retail properties. Preliminary values will be firmed up Friday, chief appraiser Patrick Brown said Tuesday.

Editor's Note -- Well, isn't this a mixed blessing! The tax rate is capped, so the property appraisals are going up (read higher taxes coming). But, the economy is good, so property values are going up.

But, this still goes to my contention that the times are not as bad as we are being told constantly by the liberals and the liberal media.

Anyone want to bet the constant drumbeat of "the recession is here, the recession is here" will die overnight following the election? Unless of course McCain wins!

COMMENTARY: W. GARDNER SELBYRon Paul supporters set sights on influencing Texas GOP
Paul backers won control of GOP confabs in Austin, Victoria.

American Statesman, Apr 03, 2008

Want a fresh political surprise?

How about supporters of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul for president staking a lasting claim in the Republican Party of Texas?

Editor's Note -- Interesting article. But, I personally do not see the parallel between the rise of the Christian Right in the 90's and this insurrection.

The former was based strongly in Republican ethics and respect for the Republican traditions. Many of their recruits were brought in by the belief in the Reagan Revolution.

There was not the animus and vitriol nor the unfocused anger in that movement as has been witnessed in this uprising. Further, I tend to disagree with the author's intro that this will stake a "lasting claim" in the Republican party.

Even though much of their desire is already implanted in the Texas Republican Party platform, I forecast that this brief success will dim quickly as Ron Paul heads on down the road, and most of the flash-in-the-pan activists will go home realizing there will not be an overnight takeover of the party.

In my opinion, the only comparison might be in the organized effort; the communication and motivation of this group is remarkable. But, having attended one of their followup meetings, one might tend to agree with Gail Suttle's remarks comparing the "Paulies" to the Hitler youth.

Expert: "We're brainwashing our children" about global warming
USA Today
Apr 8, 2008

Another post from guest blogger Rick Neale of Florida Today, from the National Hurricane Conference in Orlando:

William Gray, the well-known Colorado State University hurricane forecaster, routinely uses the annual National Hurricane Conference as a platform to bash global warming. In a statement to Florida Today, Gray argued that the scientific consensus on global warming is bogus — and "a mild form of McCarthyism has developed toward those scientists who do not agree" that mankind is in danger.

"We are also brainwashing our children on the warming topic. We have no better example than Al Gore's alarmists and inaccurate movie which is being shown in our schools and being hawked by warming activists with little or no meteorological-climate background," Gray wrote.

Editor's Note -- Another reason we must re-take our public education system. Mr. William Gray is an expert in his field and has been speaking out against the charade known as "global warming".

Criminal complaint will be filed in DA's race
Campaign quoted anonymous blog by candidate's consultant.

Austin Statesman
Apr 04, 2008

A consultant to Travis County district attorney candidate Rosemary Lehmberg attacked her opponent, Mindy Montford, anonymously on a political Web site. The Lehmberg campaign then recirculated the attacks to voters without identifying the consultant.

Mixing his roles as a political consultant and an anonymous blogger has pushed Kelly Fero, a longtime political fixture in Democratic campaigns, into the limelight just days before Tuesday's runoff for the county's felony prosecutor.

Editor's Note -- Friends that I spoke with are pulling for Montford. Unfortunately, due to the poor management of the Travis County Republican Party (it is a blessing we will have a new chairman soon), we have no candidate in this race. So, we have no say in who will replace the scalp-hunting DA Ronnie Earle. Note that deep in the article is the statement, "Since the 2002 legislative campaigns, when Republicans took control of the Capitol, Earle has investigated allegations of campaign wrongdoing against U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, Texas Speaker Tom Craddick and the Texas Association of Business. Almost six years later, there have been no convictions and in the case of Craddick, no criminal charges."

So, we in Travis County and the state of Texas welcome a change, preferrably not someone hand-picked by Earle. Terry Keel, Republican, has served as sheriff and state representative. Also, note that the attorney Buck Wood and consultant David Butts are well-know in the extremely liberal circles here.

Texas House District 52 -- In close match, GOP hopefuls don gloves
Austin Statesman
Mar 30, 2008

ROUND ROCK — Legislative candidates Dee Hobbs and Bryan Daniel, who survived a four-way primary battle March 4, are trying to coax Republicans back to the polls one more time this spring.

The GOP must choose between Daniel, who claims the "more conservative" mantle because of his endorsements from several statewide groups, and Hobbs, who cites his lifelong ties to the county, his local endorsements and his crossover appeal in the November general election.

Hot runoffs in DeLay's old seat, Dallas district
Early voting begins today; election is April 8.

Austin Statesman
Mar 30, 2008

WASHINGTON — Shelley Sekula Gibbs was elected three times to the Houston City Council and once to a temporary seat in Congress, but she is in a tough Republican contest against newcomer Pete Olson as she seeks to return to the U.S. House.

Two runoff campaigns are under way for Texas congressional seats: the suburban Houston Republican runoff for the nomination to take on first-term U.S. Rep. Nick Lampson, D-Stafford, and a Dallas Democratic primary runoff for the chance to take on Republican Rep. Pete Sessions.

Honest, Texas Democrats don't know which presidential candidate won the state yet
Party says approach to caucuses keeps campaigns and voters engaged

Austin Statesman
Mar 28, 2008

It's hard to believe.

More than three week ago, about 1 million Texas voters chose twice between Barack Obama and Hillary clinton for president.

And the Democratic Party won't finally know who won until June -- by design.

Editor's Note -- OPERATION CHAOS moves forward and appears to be more successful than the media wants to admit. If you have listened to Rush this week, you know that at least two Republicans voted in the Dem primary and were elected as delegates to their respective county convention.

Rush spoke to two fellas, one from Austin and the other from Galveston. The irony of this is quite "Hillary-ious". But, the fact remains, if two were able to call Rush and get through, what significant number of other "covert operatives" (as Rush called them) will be attending the Democrat conventions in Texas this weekend.

The continuing inability of the Democrat party to unite and the worsening animosity between the two candidates factions bodes well for the success of Republicans in November.
