Planned Parenthood will spend $40 million on campaigns to re-elect President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats, the pro-abortion advocacy nonprofit has announced.

Abortion will be “the most important issue” for 12 percent of voters, according to a March poll conducted by KKF, a health policy research institute formerly known as the Kaiser Family Foundation.

“Half of voters say they think the elections for president, Congress, and state legislatures will have a ’major impact’ on access to abortion, rising to two-thirds of Democratic voters and seven in 10 voters who say abortion is their most important voting issue,” the survey reported.

Planned Parenthood said in a post on X that it is spending the money to “defend abortion access and get out the vote.”

The organization said “Trump’s Supreme Court” removed the federal right to abortion when it overturned Roe V. Wade two years ago.

Former President Donald Trump appointed three conservative justices during his administration: Justices Amy Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch. In June 2022 the court gave abortion access authority back to the states.

Planned Parenthood said that 21 states have either enacted complete or partial bans on abortion since the Supreme Court decision, which the organization says affects 43 percent of women.

Pro-Life Group Invests $92 Million in 2024

Pro-life groups, however, continue to express their support for the ruling.
SBA Pro-Life America issued a press release on the same day as Planned Parenthood’s announcement, praising the overturning of Roe v. Wade, a decision that has saved approximately 200,902 lives, the organization said.

SBA Pro-Life America’s president, Marjorie Dannenfelser, warned that “we are just one election cycle away from having every gain for life ripped away.”

Earlier this year, the pro-life advocacy group partnered with PAC Women Speak Out on a $92 million canvassing strategy targeting 10 million voters in the eight battleground states which include North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

Ms. Dannenfelser said the canvassing effort is to garner support for pro-life candidates who are unambiguous about where they stand with late-term abortion and show compassion for women facing unplanned pregnancies.

“This election cycle will be our largest ground game yet as we will focus on key battleground states to win a pro-life Senate and elect a National Defender of Life as president.” she said. “We will take no voter for granted, whether they are pro-life and don’t vote consistently or can be persuaded to vote pro-life,” she added.
